Mount Pleasant Primary School is situated on the outskirts of the city of Newport, South Wales. The one-storey building was opened 30 years ago as an open-plan Infant School. Junior children were introduced when the planned school was never constructed.

The area the school serves is a suburban area where the majority of housing is privately owned. Parents care deeply about their child's education and are very supportive of the school.

Mount Pleasant has strong links with the local community. The school building is used in the evenings by Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and the local Neighbourhood Committee.

The local churches provide the school with pastoral support as well as taking acts of collective worship.

Currently the school has 254* pupils on roll. A full break down of the school organisation is laid out further on in this document.

Our school aim is:

Sowing The Seeds For Success

Choosing the right school for your child is vitally important.  Most parents want a good education for their children but they also want them to feel safe, secure and happy.

At Mount Pleasant we believe we can offer all these things.  We pride ourselves on the broad, balanced and full education we can provide from foundation through to Key Stage, and the high standards of teaching and learning are a credit to the hard work of both staff and pupils.  Equally, we are also proud of the atmosphere of friendliness and co-operation which is always evident.

We do value our pupils and we believe that their time in school should be rewarding and fulfilling.  Should you choose to send your child to Mount Pleasant I am confident that you will have made the right decision.

I look forward to meeting you soon and if you have any queries or concerns, please feel free to contact me at the school at anytime.
