Friday 10th September

Welcome Back

I’d like to say a huge Mount Pleasant welcome to all our new families and pupils who have started school this week. I’ve been so impressed with the behaviour and attitude to learning across the school. Nursery and Reception are settling into the school routine very well indeed. Everyone is looking so smart in their school uniform and PE uniform too.

Miss Venn, Miss Booth and Miss Mills have joined the Mount Pleasant team, I’m sure you will all make them feel very welcome. I look forward to working with you over the academic year. We are delighted to inform you that we have a new school cook, welcome to Mrs Brown, she’s been cooking delicious meals all week.

Huge thanks to Mr Thomas our caretaker and Mrs Phillips our cleaner who continue to work tirelessly to keep our school absolutely spotless. The teaching and office staff have been in during the holiday period making sure that the return to school runs smoothly. They’ve done a great job!

Kind regards Miss Rutledge

Good news

Congratulations to Miss Mortimer and Mr Dan Jacob who married over the summer holidays. Miss Mortimer will now be known as Mrs Mortimer. What a beautiful day it was too!

Covid 19

I ask all families to work with school to make sure we can operate fully and keep school a safe  environment. Please help us do this by making sure you contact school immediately if there is a case of COVID-19 in your household. Please email mountpleasant.primary@newport.gov.uk to support us with the ‘warn and inform’ process. By doing this staff will be able to look out for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 within our school community and act accordingly.

Please help us operate fully and keep COVID-19 out of our school. It is important we all fully understand that any student or staff member with any of the three symptoms of COVID-19 e.g. new persistent cough, fever and/or loss of taste or smell, should not attend school but should self-isolate, arrange a PCR test and notify the school of this. We are asking all families to take a cautious approach.
