Week 5
This week we are collecting any small change for penny wars - 1p, 2p 5p and 10p piece coins can be brought in and added to the class jar. At the end of the week we will see which class has collected most! Then if we collect enough money we will get another 10 Ipads.
We are finding out about space during project time and have watched a couple of power points about the sun, moon, earth and their movement in Space. We have learnt some specific Space vocabulary and a mnemonic to help us remember the order of the planets. This week Techniquest came in and they inflated a plastic dome. Then we climbed into it and took a voyage into space.......! Did you know that there is a star which is has a diameter of over 900,000,000 miles? It is called Beetlejuice and is in another solar system beyond ours. Plus there is a moon by Neptune which has an atmosphere that could possibly hold life, so scientists are intrigued by it.
Our visit from Techniquest.
Also in English we wrote a letter to Paul Manship, the author of the 'The Cube', which we finished this week too.

Week 9
This week in maths we have been understanding and designing conversion graphs.
In English we have been thinking about how pictures and music make us feel and how the person in the image feels.
In Project we have been advertising a planet as a tourist destination by making a poster and seeing who was the best advertiser. We had to have facts about the planet and use our imagination alot. We haven't made a decision yet!
An advert for Jupiter
In History we have been learning about Eratosthenes; how he found out the Earth was round and how he measured the distance of the Earth.
In P.E this week we have been doing football skills and making dance sequences to spell words.
In science we have tested bottle rockets to see what amount of water and air is the best to fly the furthest.
We have also made our mothers day cards.

Week 10
This week in English we have written a short story about a gorilla from a picture and then took out the small words and made it into a poem.
In Maths we have been learning about the Pythagorus theory and using the iPads to answer pythagorus word problems.
In science this week we have been looking at what makes the best bottle rocket. We showed our results in a scatter graph and made a conclusion from what we had found out.
In Project we had a debate on who was more important. Galileo Galilei or Nicholas Copernicus. Most people voted for Galileo, some for Copernicus and some thought they were equally important.
This week, the inspectors came into school. They asked for children to read to them, show them ICT work and listen to some welsh speakers. They also have looked at some pupils book. Well done to everyone for working so hard and being really good representatives for Mount Pleasant.
Friday everyone came to school dressed in funny clothes. We raised £50 just in our class.
Today we had a go at Taiko Drumming in the hall. It was a lot of fun and you had to concerntrate very hard at times!
Remember this week's homework is creating our own bottle rockets.

Week 11
Remember to get your maths homework - check Mr Hills' note.
After Easter we will be doing Arthurian legends, so if you would like to do any reseach on King Arthur it would be useful.
A representative of Chartwells came in to educate us about healthy eating and smoothie making. We also learnt how cycle power could produce a smoothie using a specially adapted bicycle.
