February 4th

As always, this week's homework involves parents so you can see where your child is at in their learning.

Change from £10.00

Please empty some coins onto the table ( less than the value of £10.00) and ask your child to count them and then use a number line jotting to calculae the change or difference from £10.00.  Repeat as necessary. Some photos or jottings in Homework Journals would be fabulous !

What's the difference?

Many pupils have really struggled with this terminology and understanding what it means. Please use many coins and randomly allocate some to yourself and some to your child. Ask them to calculate the difference, using a number line jotting as we have dome in school:-

£3.56 £4.00  £6.00 £6.17

Some photos or jottings in Homework Journals would be fabulous !

What's the time?

Ask your child to keep a diary of their day, complete with times, for example:-

8 o' clock    Get up

Half past nine Go to the park etc

Some photos or jottings in Homework Journals would be fabulous !

What's the time?

A few children are amazing at telling the time, but many others are struggling. Randomly throughout the day, ask them questions such as:

What is the time now?

We go to church at half past ten, how long until then?

Church starts at half past ten and lasts for an hour, when will it finish?

Your television programme is on at 6 o' clock. How long until then?

Finally, here are the links to an AFIE test on time. Some pupils have aid the link does not work but I have tested this and it does work. Either type the address into the browser bar at the top of the web page or copy and paste the address into the browser bar or simply highlight the address below and right click and you will see an opton to go straight to the page !
