This new club will be open to Years 1 and 2 and will be a mixture of Welsh games that encourage and reinforce Welsh language and vocabulary.  Those involved will also have an opportunity to be members of the Infant choir who I hope will be getting the amazing and unique experience of competing with other Infant Choirs from across Wales in the Urdd National Eisteddfod. Mount Pleasant Primary have gifted singers - lets show off our talent on the eisteddfod stage!

To be involved in the Urdd National Eisteddfod, children must be members of Urdd Gobaith Cymru, the largest youth movement in Wales.  More information will be given during the first weeks of the new term, but having been involved in the Urdd for over 40 years (!!) I'm incredibly excited about this opportunity and can't wait to let you know more!

Wow!  What a fantastic turn-out for our first Welsh Club session!!  I've also had several children who have expressed an interest in joining us next week, so I look forward to our meeting next week!  I've increased the maximum number to 30, so as you can imagine good behaviour is incredibly important.  If anyone is unable to follow instructions the first time it really does spoil it for others, so if he behaviour continues after warnings have been given, their place will have to be offered to those on the waiting list.  It's also very important that children attend EVERY week as we're constantly learning new songs to perform in assemblies, concerts and if we're good enough, the Urdd National Eisteddfod!  If you're child is unable to attend please inform the office as anyone who misses 2 consequtive weeks without explanation wil be unable to continue.

This week we played several Gemau Cylch (Circle games) and Gemau Gwrando (listening games)  This way the children reinforced the Welsh phrases learnt in the classroom and practiced following instructions as they will do in choir - I know that  I'm going to have some outstanding members this term!

If you click on the lyrics tab to the left, you'll be able to take a look at the words to the song 'Hey Mistar Urdd!' - Ask the children to sing it to you too - they were fab!
